About María Elena Barragán-Paladines
Born in Ecuador, one of the most diverse countries in the world in terms of reptiles, I had the opportunity to start working with snakes at a young age. After 30 years of work in the field of Herpetology, I am currently the Executive Director of the Ecuadorian NGO, Fundacion Herpetologica Gustavo Orces.
Having a Diploma in Management of Endangered Species, Kent University, UK, and a Master Degree in Environment and Education for Sustainability, Griffith University Australia, nowadays, my efforts are directed and focused on education as a fundamental tool to shape friendly and respectful behaviors towards snakes.
