A global movement for nature and people
Wild nature is declining rapidly, and the earth’s life support systems are under increasing stress.
As nature erodes and the response of human systems is inadequate or destructive, it can seem like the only rational response is despair. Yet if you zoom in from the big picture, a mosaic appears; in amongst the stories of loss there are inspiring stories of regeneration and positive change, with nature making a difference in people’s lives, and people valuing and nurturing their natural environment.
These stories are the key to securing our planet’s future; we need to learn from them, replicate them and thereby build a world in which nature and people can coexist. About the Pakistan Hub
Pakistan is a unique country with many hidden wonders! But despite the tremendous biodiversity, most of the citizens live in oblivion of this natural heritage. Topics covering biodiversity and conservation have never made it to the educational curriculum resulting in a lack of awareness and appreciation amongst the youth. Mirroring the global scenario, hunting, poaching, and habitat degradation due to lopping and improper waste management pose major threats to the dwindling biodiversity of the country.
We are one of the first initiatives in the country aimed at engaging with the youth, who make up the majority of the country’s population to make them custodians of their local biodiversity. We are hoping to start by contacting local schools and educational institutes by arranging productive webinars with them and utilizing their potential in creative activities that generate awareness regarding biodiversity conservation and show its positive impact on people. Most of the country’s biodiversity is still unexplored and we are committed to involving our youth in such exploration activities. We believe that together, change is possible!
