We are currently looking for new volunteers to take on the following roles:

Database Curator:

Are you interested in helping us design and curate a database of optimistic conservation news stories? We are looking for a Database Curator to join our Database Team (currently three curators) and help us create an online, open-source, community-built repository of news stories. We want to make finding positive environmental stories as easy as possible!

Time commitment: 3 – 5 hours per week

Responsibilities:

  • Help to design the database
  • Search stories on news channels
  • Collect stories shared by our community on Twitter and Instagram

Ideal qualities:

  • Strong attention to details
  • Good organizational skills
  • Experience in designing and working with databases is desirable but not necessary
  • Flexibility to work with a team spread across multiple time zones

Hub Coordinator:

Do you love networking and coordinating projects? Conservation Optimism is looking for an organized, motivated person to act as a Hub Coordinator for our India, Pakistan, Sweden, and UK Hubs. Join our international community of optimists to help us inspire even more positive action for the planet around the world!

Time commitment: 3-4 hours per week

Responsibilities:

  • Organising and chairing monthly meetings with each of the Hubs
  • Liaising with the Hubs on Slack 
  • Liaising with our Director if the Hubs require specific support
  • Ensuring that the Social Media Team and Blog Team have the information they need to promote the Hubs’ activities

Ideal Qualities:

  • Good organizational skills
  • Good networking skills
  • Flexibility to work with teams spread across multiple time zones
  • Fluency in Hindi would be good but is not essential 

Website Editor:

Conservation Optimism is looking for an organised, tech-savvy person to help us keep our website up to date. Do you have a working knowledge of WordPress and would like to help us shift the environmental narrative away from one of doom and gloom? Join our international community of optimists to inspire positive action for the planet through the power of stories!

Time commitment: 1-2 hours per week

Responsibilities:

  • Editing existing pages of our website (Hubs’ pages, ConservationNOW profile pages, webinars & workshops, videos of talks and Instagram Live, etc…)
  • Creating new pages when necessary
  • Creating assets on Canva 
  • Liaising with different teams to ensure the content of the website is up to date

Ideal Qualities:

  • Strong attention to details
  • Good organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of WordPress
  • Flexibility to work with a team spread across multiple time zones

Conservation Optimism has a vibrant team of over 40 volunteers from around the globe. By joining our team you will get the opportunity to:
