The Sea Ranger Service is a conservation enterprise that tackles two problems simultaneously: the need for capacity to better manage ocean areas and the high youth unemployment in coastal zones. As an organisation, we train and employ young people as full-time Sea Rangers to assist government agencies in managing and restoring ocean areas. Combining social and environmental impact in this way helps young people gain qualifications and aids governments to protect oceans more effectively.

This new approach to ocean protection is rooted in conservation optimism: the idea that young people have the power to make a concrete impact towards better managing and regenerating biodiversity in our oceans. We are excited to be part of the Conservation Optimism network and link with like-minded organisations to increase creative solutions for our planet.
