Palm Oil Detectives is an investigative journalism non-profit platform that exists to expose commodity greenwashing and corruption in the meat, palm oil and gold industries. However, more than simply exposing greenwashing, the Palm Oil Detectives collective is a global community of animal and indigenous rights advocates who tell the stories of animals and indigenous peoples in compelling ways on social media.
We come from all walks of life and every part of the earth and speak many languages and yet we are bonded through friendship, loyalty, kindness and acceptance of each other’s differences. We are united through a mutual love of animals and care for fellow humans and not divisiveness. The movement aims to reframe narratives about wildlife seeing them as non-human beings worthy of respect as much as human beings. Integral to this philosophy is the idea that indigenous resistance and sovereignty is key to saving ecosystems and should never be sidelined in favour of western Global North solutions for beings living in the Global South. The Palm Oil Detectives #Boycott4Wildlife movement brings together those who stand for indigenous rights with those who stand for animal rights in an inclusive and caring way.
