The University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) aims to provide students with real-world experience so that they have the knowledge and skills necessary to tackle today’s (and tomorrow’s) conservation challenges.

UWE Bristol wildlife conservation and environmental team is rapidly increasing, with academics now working in the UK, Central and East Africa, Madagascar, Southeast Asia and Cuba, a growing number of undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in subject-related programmes, and a commitment to lead the way towards a better understating of the complex conservation challenges we all face.

UWE Bristol is fully aware of the environmental impact society is having. As such, we have made sustainability one of our goals: From developing grounds that promote biodiversity to reducing our waste through re-use initiatives and recycling. From helping students and staff make sustainable travel choices to reducing energy and water consumption.

By joining the ConservationNOW network we want to inspire our students and staff to embrace and promote the conservation optimism ethos. We want to highlight that in the 21st-century wildlife conservation entails not only identifying emerging threats and opportunities but also recognizing and learning from successes. We want to facilitate opportunities for students to network with like-minded people, to provide opportunities for collaboration and a space for discussion. We want the next generation of conservation scientists and environmentalists to have – and to give – hope.
