Galapagos Conservation Trust supports and delivers conservation and sustainability projects in the Galapagos Islands, one of the most unique and ecologically important areas in the world. We partner with Ecuadorian authorities, NGOs, local communities and leading researchers to deliver breakthroughs in science, conservation, education and sustainable living on the Islands. Our aim is to achieve a lasting positive impact and preserve Galapagos for generations to come.
Due to their uniqueness there are many endangered species on the Islands. These face many pressures including invasive species, urbanization and plastic pollution. However there are many success stories in Galapagos and we want to build on these. Galapagos species are resilient – that’s how they survived and evolved on the Islands in the first place. The Galapagos community, ranging from the local government to the school children, care about their environment and want to help it. With their support, we know that Galapagos will bounce back once the pressures have been removed. That is why we have joined ConservationNOW. Not only can we share our setbacks and successes, but by leveraging global expertise and learning from other organisations within the network, we can inspire and empower local people to make a positive difference, and give them, and the rest of the world, a reason to be optimistic about the future of Galapagos.
